THINGS TO DO
Villa dei Bosconi - situated right outside of Fiesole, an ancient Etruscan hilltown - is surrounded by some amazing scenery of Tuscan hills, where guests spend their time relaxing in comfortable rooms, in the garden, on the terrace, or on a chaise lounge by the swimming pool.
In FIESOLE, there are archeological sights that include Etruscan tombs, a beautifful Roman amphitheatre and baths, the renewed Bandini museum, and an excellent archeological museum. There is also the Monteceri Park, recently created, which offers for visitors of all ages an extraordinary mix of nature and culture, where the antique quarries of "pietra serena" provided the stone used to build some of the famous old Florentine buildings.
In the spring and in the autumn, it is possible to visit some of the most beautiful and famous villas on the outskirts of Florence, such as Villa Corsini in Maiano, Villa Le Balze, Villa al Bosco di Fontelucente, Villa Medici, Villa il Roseto, Villa il Riposo dei Vescovi, Villa La Torraccia (seat of the famous Scuola di Musica di Fiesole).
During the summer the Roman amphitheatre holds its yearly "Estate Fiesolana", the oldest Italian festival with performances of opera, ballet, concerts, cinema and drama.
The Tuscan country side also offers the possibility of pleasant walks, more demanding hiking trails, and mountain biking.
For wine and food lovers there is a wide array of excellent restaurants and local farms in the area that sell homemade products, and the Chianti region, famous for its exquisite wine and vineyards, is only a few miles away.
FLORENCE is within a few minutes of Fiesole, by car or bus, which permits visitors to spend the day in the city and then easily return to the tranquility of the hotel in the evening.
EXCURSIONS: Villa dei Bosconi is also an excellent starting point for visits to other Tuscan towns and cities. Day trips can easily be undertaken to Siena, San Gimignano, Lucca, Pisa and a host of other sites.
